HD Expo wraps 4th edition in Chicago

Against a rainy Chicago backdrop on June 5th, HD EXPO presented a full day of education and exhibition to its largest audience to date in the Midwest.
The busy exhibition space featured top national and Midwest companies including Sony, Panasonic, Midwest Media, Litepanels, Atempo and many more. HD EXPO presented three sold-out intensives including Leader Instruments, Panasonic and Sony. Prior to HD EXPO on June 3rd & 4th, professional camera training “P2 Workflow Workshop” was presented to a group of camera operators, post supervisors and editors.
Bryan Carroll was featured in a One on One Conversation, moderated by Story’s Mark Androw. Carroll is co-Producer of “Public Enemies,” Michael Mann’s ambitious John Dillinger film in production in Chicago and in locations throughout the Midwest. The Conversation was an informative exploration of Carroll’s innovative approach to enabling creative storytellers with technology from production through post production.
“Tech & The Indie: The Storyteller in the 21st Century,” presented in conjunction with IFP Chicago featured a panel of Chicago’s leading filmmakers. Peter Gilbert, Pete Biagi, Billy Maursky, and Pete Jannotta told a packed audience about their creative use of tools and processes. The panel shared their experiences making commercials, feature films, documentaries and web-based entertainment in the new age of digital tools and the evolution of workflows while they presented high quality stories.
HD EXPO is the only technology expo and conference program in the Midwest to offer this community such a high level of professional education and top tier product expertise. Kristin Petrovich, CEO of HD EXPO, closed Thursday’s event noting that “our fourth year in Chicago accomplished exactly what we aimed for in this vibrant city: to educate, inform and support the community. The Midwest area supports the most creative and innovative filmmakers and experts and it is great to be part of the energy of the city.”
HDEXPO launches in New York City on September 25th, and presents its two-day show at the Burbank Marriott on October 29 & 30th.
