Guadalajara Film Festival celebrates 20 years of Fonds Sud

The Fonds Sud Cinema celebrates 20 years in Guadalajara Film Festival


The XX Guadalajara International Film Festival will show a selection of 5 films financed by the Fonds Sud Cinema, to celebrate the 20 years anniversary of the french fund that help the production of films in countries in development

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture (Centre National de la Cinématographie) established in 1984 a selective aid to the production
of feature films. In 20 years the Fonds Sud Cinema has helped the production of 320 films of 60 countries from Africa, Latin America an Asia, letting 260
filmmakers the access to market, and international festivals.

The countries involved are all the ones from Africa, Latin America and Asia, (except Corea, Hong-Kong, Japón, Singapur y Taiwan, as well as some countries
from the ex-URSS). This fund supports works with a strong cultural identity.

This Fund has let filmmakers, now famous, make their first works. At the moment the camboyan director Rithy Panh is the president of the professional commision that evaluates the application forms.

To celebrate these 20 years, with the collaboration of the French Ministry of Foreing Affairs, the XX Guadalajara International Film Festival will show a
selection of 5 feature films, sponsored by the Fonds Sud Cinema which are also representatives of different countries.

The titles of the films to be exhibit in the Fonds Sud Cinema are:
Hyènes de Djibril Diop Mambéty, Senegal, 1992. d: 110 min.

Festival.
Thandeka is a black journalist. The alcohol eats her up, perturbs her work and her relationship with her deaf daughter. Metua, an old lady, show up at the news paper and asks Thandeka her testimony before the comission.
