IFFR 2004 Closing Night Film: GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING by Peter Webber

Saturday January 31, 2004 the 33rd International Film Festival Rotterdam closes with two screenings of three times Oscar nominated GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING by Peter Webber, the adaption of Tracy Chevaliers novel about the 17th century Dutch master Johannes Vermeer.

Colin Firth and Scarlett Johansson play the principal roles as Vermeer and his housekeeper. Webbers adaptation of Tracy Chevaliers novel depicts the painter and 17th century Delft through her eyes.

GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING got nominated in three Oscar categories: achievement in cinematography (Eduardo Sarra), achievement in art direction (Ben van Os) and set direction (Cecile Heideman) and achievement in costume design (Dien van Straalen). Spring 2004, GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING will be distributed in The Netherlands by A-Film Distribution.

After the Closing Night Film, IFFR organises its Closing Night Party in the IFFR Professionals Centre 'de Doelen from 11.00 pm (tickets available only through the IFFR Central Box Office).
