Industry registrations and producer submissions open May 9

FIN Partners, the Atlantic International Film Festival’s internationally recognized co-production and co-financing market and conference, announces that the new spotlight region for its 26th edition will be New Zealand

This two-year partnership with the New Zealand Film Commission will shine a spotlight on the filmmakers and stories from New Zealand. Delegates from the region will travel to Halifax to attend the three-day event as part of the 43rd Atlantic International Film Festival, September 14-16.

“We are delighted that New Zealand has been selected as the 2023 and 2024 spotlight country for FIN Partners. A two-year spotlight on New Zealand as a co-production partner—with our talented, diverse and award-winning screen sector and filmmakers—is a fantastic opportunity to enable collaborative relationships on outstanding projects with truly global appeal,” says Chris Payne, COO (Acting) & Head of International Relations at the New Zealand Film Commission. “In 2021, the New Zealand Government invested $50 million into premium productions for international audiences. This FIN Partners spotlight will help continue this momentum and further expand and enhance the strong profile and relationships New Zealand producers and filmmakers have in the international market.”

Each year, FIN Partners brings members of the film and television industry from around the world to Halifax to attend pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings, roundtable sessions, keynote speakers, panels and networking events including the world-famous ‘Lobster Dinner by the Sea’. Delegates also take in screenings and attend galas at the Atlantic International Film Festival, whilst experiencing Atlantic Canada's hospitality and charm.

“This collaboration has been several years in the making, and we’re pleased that it is finally coming to fruition thanks to our committed partners from the New Zealand Film Commission,” says Martha Cooley, Executive Director of the Atlantic International Film Festival. “We’re delighted to welcome a delegation of producers from New Zealand to the event in September.”

Industry registrations and project submissions open May 9th, 2023 at: finpartners.ca
