Film Fleadh closes Irish fest with Headrush

FILM FLEADH (Irish Film Festival) 2004 New York march 18 - 20, 2004
The 6th Annual Film Fleadh & CRAIC festival (www.filmfleadh.com) wrapped on
Saturday March 20th.

John Crowley’s INTERMISSION (starring Colin Farrell) kicked off the festival on
3/20 to a sold out show. Michael McElhatton was on hand on Friday March 19th for the US Premier of his film SPIN THE BOTTLE. Shimmy Marcus was in attendance
on closing night March 20th, Saturday night for the premier of HEADRUSH. Huey
Morgan (Fun Lovin Criminals) was looking Irish in his green corduroy jacket @
Mission (where he was Guest DJ at the Death Disco Headrush after party). Huey
jokingly replied"I wore the green jacket because it makes me look Irish".
Others in attendance over the weekend were actor/model Jane Bradbury, Dean Winters, BP Fallon, Moya Brennan and Dara McKluskey.

The Kodak/Orbit Digital Audience Award went to the comedy HEADRUSH (Starring
MC Wuzza). Director Shimmy Marcus accepted the award and said"I can’t believe
it, It’s unbelievable. It’s a nice reward for 7 years of breaking your arse".
The Best Short went to Yu Ming is Ainm Dom directed by Daniel O’Hara..

Terence Mulligan, the festival director and founder went one step further " The Craic (Music Series and Film Fleadh) was a successful expansion into Music.
We now have things to build on for next year and hopefully take it to another
level. A year from now people will be talking about the Republic of Loose and
how we gave them their 1st appearance. It will only get bigger and better.

The Film Fleadh festival set new attendance records and screened 3 US
Premiers. The CRAIC/Film Fleadh is a launching pad for the best of emerging Irish Musicians and Independent films directed by Irish or Irish-Americans.
Craic is the Irish word for "having a good time"

Headrush is a crime comedy about two disillusioned youths, struggling through a haze of cannabis, who hope to solve all their problems by smuggling a consignement of drugs for a local gangster.
(Music by Fun Lovin Criminals and Huey Morgan makes a cameo appearance
