Today in National Palace “Ukraine” the Grand closing ceremony was held of the 38th Kyiv International Film Festival Molodist.
This year’s festival took place from October 18 to 26 in Kyiv. Around 300 films have been shown in three competition and over 20 non-competition programs of Molodist in festival center “Cinema Kyiv” and cinemas “Zhovten” and “Kinopanorama”.
In competition of student films 30 titles participated from 25 countries of the world, the shorts competition included 19 films from 14 countries and feature films competition – 13 movies representing 12 countries.

Grand prix – Scythian Deer statuette, diploma and 10.000 $ (sponsored by MSL company) – for the best film of all competition program awarded ex-aequo to two films “Buddha collapsed out of shame” by Hana Makhmalbaf (Iran) and “Shultes” by Bakur Bakuradze (Russia)
Prize for the best full-feature film and 2500 $ awarded to “Huddersfield” by Ivan Zivkovic (Serbia)
Prize for the best short film and subtitling for 2500 $ from Laser Video Titres awarded to “Rene” by Tobias Noelle
Prize for the best student film and 2500 $ awarded to “Goleshovo” by Ilian Metev (Bulgaria / United Kingdom)

FIPRESCI jury - Thomas Taborsky (Austria), France Hatron (France), Dimitar Kabaivanov (Bulgaria) - have awarded their prize to "Versailles" by Pierre Schоller (France)
FICC jury - Christian Heinzel (Germany), Aleksandra Krotkova (Russia), Jostein Strand (Norway) - have awarded their prize to "Buddha collapsed out of shame" by Hana Makhmalbaf (Iran) and diplomas to "Snow" by Aida Begic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and "Le Ring" by Anaіs Barbeau-Lavalette (Canada)
Ecumenical jury - Heike Kühn (Germany), Peter Malone (United Kingdom), Karina Vostriakova (Ukraine) - have awarded their prize for full-feature film to "Un coeur simple" by Marion Laine (France), the short film prize to "It's Sunday!" by Samir Guesmi (France) and diploma to "Buddha collapsed out of shame" by Hana Makhmalbaf (Iran)
Jury of the parallel competition “Panorama of Ukrainian cinema 2007-2008” – Tamara Trubnikova (Ukraine) and Manana Suradze (Georgia) awarded the film “Butterfly wings” by Oleksandr Balagura
Jury of the parallel competition of queer films “Sunny Bunny” headed by Anatoliy Yerema (Ukraine) and with Larysa Denysenko (Ukraine), Samanta Sokolowski (Germany) and Ed Mishyn (Russia) has decided to award the main prize to full-feature "The Guitar" by Amy Redford (USA) and a special diploma to short film "Cafe Com Leite" by Daniel Ribeiro (Brazil).
Audience award was given to the short “Hold on” by Damien Roussineau (France)
Prize for the contribution to development of Ukrainian cinema from International Charitable Fund “Ukraine 3000”, whereof the head of supervisory council is Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko, has been awarded to film artist Serhiy Yakutovich, who was also jury member of this year’s festival.
Within the framework of 38th Kyiv International Film Festival Molodist traditionally Molodist Film Market was held organized together with Kinoforum Ukraine company. For young Ukrainian cinematographers Kyiv Talent Workshop project presented a range of master-classes of the world-known film personalities.
For the first time the work of the Festival included “Molodist FilmBoat Meeting” – joint project of Molodist, Ukrainian Cinema Foundation (UCF) and Nemiroff company – a special competition of co-productions whereat young cinematographers from Ukraine and neighboring countries got possibility to present their film projects at the attention of the most influential European producers and funds that finance cinema production.
