While most of this 15th edition has already been completed, FIFOG wanted to mark the occasion with a symbolic presence in theaters in order to meet its audience and share this moment with them, during these difficult times. The festival wants to resist against adversity with the slogan “Watch together to take back our power!” On the program a dozen films of all genres. In addition to the diffusion of a few short films that won the online and school competitions awards, several films will be on top of the bill. ALGERIE, MON AMOUR by Mustapha Kessous looks back on the citizen movement in Algeria. AFRICAN VIOLET by Mona Zandi Haghighi explores the problem of old age in a modernizing Iran. The latter is supported by the Persian Ciné-club in Geneva. TATA MILOUDA by Nadja Harek, presented in collaboration with the Geneva Office for the Promotion of Equality between Women and Men and the Prevention of Domestic Violence (BPEV) and the Rinia Contact Association, traces a woman's fight for her freedom. À NOTRE TOUR! by Hanna Assouline follows a group of young Muslims and Jews on their journey through France to create a dynamic of dialogue. The film will be presented in collaboration with the JCall Swiss association. Finally, to close the exceptional exhibition Narratives from Algeria which takes place at the Photoforum Pasquart in Bienne, FIFOG is partnering with the organizer to present Fais soin de toi by Mohamed Lakhdar Tati, which questions the intimity of Algerians.
Ion Due to the COVID-19 health crisis, FIFOG 2020 has adapted to the situation and offered its audience a program in several phases spread out over time. As a reminder, the online version of the festival took place from June 8 to 14, 2020. This version drew sparkling stars on the canvas: a bunch of films, a painting and photo exhibition, and a belly dance class. A dish with feminine and oriental spices was savored with delicacy and without moderation:
