Environmental Films Showcase at Sacramento

Environmental Films Showcase Sunday, 4-3

After a morning presentation by acclaimed Producer Director John Daly (Platoon, Salvador) The Sacramento Film Festival and UC Davis Environmental Health studies present an afternoon of Environmental Visions, Sunday, April 3rd at the Hyatt Regency Grand Ballroom.

This amazing program begins at 1:15pm with - Environmental Visions at Home – a documentary program showcasing four compelling stories about Northern California, its environmental challenges and triumphs. Environmental Visions features Angle of Inspiration, chronicling the creation of the Sundial Bridge in Redding and San Franciscos Broken Promise telling of the building of the Hetch Hatch Dam and the political struggle for public power in San Francisco. The program is rounded out by Rules of the Game about tribal Gaming in Northern California and Shellmound, an unflinching portrait of the building of Emeryville on an native burial ground and Toxic dump.

Also Sunday April 3rd, at 3pm, join us for Plagues and Pleasures on the Salton Sea. Hair-raising and hilarious, Plagues and Pleasures is part history lesson, part cautionary tale on one of the strangest communities you have ever seen. This is the American Dream gone as stinky as a dead carp. Then, Robert Redford narrates Global Focus, examining the lives of several echo heroes from around the world.

Partial proceeds from these programs will be donated to Access Sacramento, making a difference in our Community for twenty years by providing a forum for local residents to tell their stories and create their own life documentary. Please support Northern California film, Access Sacramento and our environment by coming and enjoying these beautiful and engrossing films. Filmmakers will be available for discussion.
