Emmanuelle Béart patron of Vietnam's 2nd Panorama of French Cinema

Unifrance and the French Embassy in Vietnam are presenting the 2nd Panorama of French Cinema in Vietnam, which will be held in Hanoi from October 20 through 22 in partnership with MegaStar Cinemas, in Ho Chi Minh City from October 22 through 24, in Da-Nang from October 27 through 28, and in Haiphong from October 29 through 30.

This year’s Panorama will showcase a selection of 6 French films not yet released in Vietnam: 15 ans et demi by François Desagnat and Thomas Sorriaux, Cash by Eric Besnard, Chasseurs de Dragons (Dragon Hunters) by Guillaume Ivernel and Arthur Qwak, Disco by Fabien Onteniente, Les Femmes de l'ombre (Female Agents) by Jean-Paul Salomé, and Vilaine by Jean-Patrick Benes and Allan Mauduit. Unifrance has also selected 10 short films to be presented in a special screening: Aujourd'hui Madame by César Vayssié, Comme un air by Yohann Gloaguen, Cut! by Alain Riou, La Deuxième Vie du sucrier by Didier Canaux, Même les pigeons vont au paradis by Samuel Tourneux, Overtime by Ouru Atlan, Premier Voyage by Grégoire Sivan, StrictEternum by Didier Fontan, and Une leçon particulière by Raphaël Chevènement.

Offering comedy, drama, action, and animated films, this year’s line-up is as rich and diverse as current French film production. It will give audiences the chance to discover some new faces in the French cinema scene, such as Alice Taglioni, Jean Dujardin, Franck Dubosc, Déborah François, and Marilou Berry as well as some big names including Daniel Auteuil, Jean Reno, Gérard Depardieu, Sophie Marceau, and Emmanuelle Béart.
Emmanuelle Béart will present Disco alongside the film’s director Fabien Onteniente. They will be accompanied Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by the film’s producer and vice-president of Unifrance, Eric Névé (Female Agents, Secret Agents); the representative for Unifrance’s Economic Committee, Adeline Falampin (UGC International); and Roland Husson, international director of the CNC, who will also meet with the Vietnamese public and movie industry professionals.

Last year’s Panorama served as a major boost for Pierre Salvadori’s successful film Hors de prix (Priceless), which finished its run with 17,000 admissions, which represents the average score for films released in by MegaStar 2007. The Panorama operation met with resounding success, with films screened to packed theaters and a large number of meetings organized and projects initiated with Vietnamese professionals.
