Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Eicar Film School goes to Cannes

The International Film School of Paris - EICAR offered a unique experience of Cannes to 30 of its most motivated students who become reporters for a week at the leading festival in the World.
The Accreditation Process began in early march and offered 30 happy students the unique chance to mingle, discover the "behind the scenes" elements of Cannes, interview filmmakers, actors, producers, festival directors...
They were guided by their teachers and staff from Paris and Cannes.
Some of them were accepted as trainees and asistants. Two editors worked hard inside the palais editing material shot by their fellow students including interviews with Johnny To, Patrick Bouchitay, serge losique (Montreal Festival founder, a few hot actresses from LA and much more.
The International Film School of Paris strongly believes that a film education must be as practical as possible. We trust that the best classroom for young filmmakers is the actual shooting environment. Our film directing students, regardless of whichever programme they are in, are producing short exercises or films weekly.

The Paris international Film School is a college offering students worldwide the opportunity of specializing in film studies in a professional environment where the quality of personal films is pursued to the outmost and where students are given the opportunity of developing their creative and technical knowledge through the practical creation of scripts to the manipulation of sophisticated professional equipment and on to the post production and screening of their films in front of a public and a panel of judges.

The main feature at our school is that it gathers virtually all media crafts within one training location therefore encouraging students to learn how to work together, just like in the film industry. Young film directors work closely with technical trainees and aspiring actors, which is as close to the real thing you can get as a student.

If your ambition is to train in television or filmmaking, you will learn how to screenwrite, storyboard, direct actors, shoot and sound record, edit and mix... and you'll direct several short films in digital, 16mm and 35mm.

On the more individual basis the interaction between professor and student at EICAR is encouraged. The practical courses are conducted in small groups enabling the students to improve their communication skills and the art of management, two fundamental attributes required in order to create and sustain a team troughout the shooting of a film.
Eicar Group runs 2 schools in Paris as well as Cherbourg, in conjunction with Cinergie it production arm (Foon it's first co-production with Louis Becker was shot on location in Cherbourg and presented in the Market by ICE 3)
