Dublin International Film Festival highlights

Jameson Dublin International Film Festival 2005 (February 11-20, 2005)Announces Early Programme Highlights:

Planning for the 3rd Jameson Dublin International Film Festival is now entering an advanced stage, and the event will present over 90 feature films from all over the world, along with retrospectives and special seasons. Once again, the festival will be running films at all four cinema sites in Dublin city centre - at the Screen, Savoy and UGC and IFI. Among the titles already confirmed for the festival are some of the best US movies of recent months.
Kinsey: writer-director Bill Condon's new film featuring Liam Neeson in his finest performance to date, as the pioneering American sexologist, Alfred Kinsey. The fine cast also includes Laura Linney, Peter Sarsgaard, Chris O'Donnell, Timothy Hutton and John Lithgow. Kinsey is nominated for best film in the Golden Globes, as is Liam Neeson in the best actor category.
The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou: The Rushmore team of Bill Murray and writer-director Wes Anderson reunite for another quirky comedy, with Murray cast as an oceanographer tracking down the shark that devoured his best friend. With Owen Wilson, Anjelica Huston, Cate Blanchett, Michael Gambon and Willem Dafoe.
Melinda and Melinda: Woody Allen's best film in years is a cleverly structured romantic comedy featuring Will Ferrell, Jonny Lee Miller, Chloe Sevigny and Radha Mitchell.
The Woodsman: Nicole Kassel's edgy low-budget first feature features Kevin Bacon in a complex portrayal of a paedophile on supervised parole after serving 12 years in prison.
Maria Full of Grace: Joshua Marston's award-winning drama deals with a young Colombian woman (Catalino Sandino Moreno) smuggling narcotics secreted in her stomach in order to reach the US.
Mean Creek: When a group of young Oregon students set out to exact revenge on the school bully, their plan goes dangerously wrong in this critically acclaimed US indie written and directed by Jacob Aaron Estes and starring Rory Culkin
Among the new Irish films showing at the festival will be the world premiere of Flick director Fintan Connolly's mellow and compelling romantic drama, Trouble With Sex, which stars Aiden Gillen and Renee Weldon as a barman and a lawyer tentatively getting involved with each other in present-day Dublin.

The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival is programmed by Michael Dwyer. It is grant aided by the Arts Council of Ireland/An Chomhairle Ealaíon. Media Sponsors for the festival are The Irish Times, FM104 and Entertainment.ie. As well as these, HB will be supporting a unique strand linked to the sinful pleasures associated with ice cream and XtraVision a season of Irish films. The Festival is also supported by The Westin Hotel, Dublin City Council, Citröen and The French Embasssy.
