Director of the Seville Festival, member of Moscow Jury

Javier Martín-Domínguez, director of the Seville Festival, member of the official jury of the 33rd Moscow Film Festival.

The Moscow International Film Festival has selected as a member of its official jury for this year the director, screenwriter and artistic director of the Seville European Film Festival, Javier Martín-Domínguez.

Other members of the jury for the official section include the actress Geraldine Chaplin, the Israeli director Amos Gitai, the Hungarian director Karoly Makk and the Russian director Nikolai Dostal. The Festival, which is now in its 33rd year, will be held from 23rd June to 2nd July.

Screenwriter, director of fiction films and documentaries, Martín-Domínguez has won the Prince of Viana Award for audiovisual creation and also the Cirilo Rodríguez Award for international journalism. He has been on the jury of various festivals and was secretary general of TVE, Spanish Television’s correspondent in New York and La Vanguardia’s correspondent in Japan.

Along with the biography of Martín-Domínguez, the Moscow Festival says on its official website that “the Seville festival has rapidly become consolidated as a local event, with the aim of becoming a key point of reference for European cinema in the south of the continent. As its director, Martín-Domínguez has contributed to spreading the Seville Film Festival’s reputation as a wide-ranging, solid exhibition of European cinema”.

This year the Seville Festival’s guest country is Russia and it will offer a wide range of its booming cinema and organize professional meetings in order to encourage co-production and filming between both countries. Last March, Russia joined Eurimages, the most important public fund for financial support for co-productions in Europe. Eurimages will be presenting in Seville a selection of the films supported in the last year.
