daring experimentations, artistic inspiration @ audiovisiva 5.0

The most daring experimentations, artistic inspiration, the need to communicate using non-conventional methods, invention and creation: these are the elements audiovisiva 5.0 is built on; esterni's festival will take place in Milan from May 22nd to 25th.

A one-of-a-kind event in Italy, which has come to its 5th edition. The primary aim of this year's edition is the investigation on image and public imagination, in order to develop a more critical and disenchanted view of reality. audiovisiva 5.0 will gather the most important and interesting personalities of the international artistic scene to explore and discover the new creative possibilities and synergies in communication among music, video, sound design, electronic arts and the city.

Locations
audiovisiva 5.0 will come to life in the area between St. Lawrence's Basilica and columns, it will show up on two building's facades in Corso di Porta Ticinese; it will take possession of the Diocesan Museum and its cloisters, using them as its headquarters, entering the private chapels of St. Eustorgio's Basilica, including the arch in Piazza XXIV Maggio, reaching the district of Porta Genova until the Auditorium: audiovisiva 5.0 will turn the whole area around Porta Ticinese, Navigli and Corso San Gottardo into one great stage, a huge laboratory to experiment, discover, try out, and feel.

A sneak preview
A wide-ranging and rich program, including get-togethers and work sessions, urban installations and live sets; it will entertain the wide audience of audiovisiva 5.0 and involve the residents of the area in an international event Milan should be proud of.

The opening will take place on Thursday, May 22nd inside the cloisters of the Diocesan Museum, Corso di Porta Ticinese 95: starting from 7 pm a DJ and VJ set in collaboration with QOOB, followed by a live performance from Xabier Iriondo of the SoundMetak collective.
Inside the museum, from 9 pm, screening of Jean Gabriel Periot's works. The Magazzini di Porta Genova will open at 10 pm, with live performances from Swim, Does it offend you, yeah? and Play Collective. In the meantime, Heiko Hoefer's installation "Immagine Anagrammi" will give life to the apse of St. Lawrence's Basilica.

From this very moment the city won't be the same anymore: work sessions, installations, performances and live sets during the day will leave space to DJ sets and live music inside the Magazzini di Porta Genova by night.
Among others: AGF's live performance, Words are Missing; the German artist will perform in St. Eustorgio's Basilica, drawing an oniric atmosphere all over this peculiar location (Saturday, May 24th, 11 pm); Squint/Opera's Work Video session will involve those who take part in the workshop in the creation of the promotional video for audiovisiva 5.0 (from Thursday, May 22nd); Giardini di Mirò will perform a live soundtrack for Il fuoco by Giovanni Pastrone, a masterpiece of Italian silent films, followed by a selection of videos from the Italian-Canadian artist Floria Sigismondi (Saturday, May 24th, 9 pm - Auditorium di Milano); Killa Volts's DJ and live sets, together with Ben Invasion and Mike Cupcake; Dj Elephant Power (Saturday May 24th, 10 pm - Magazzini di Porta Genova); the closing event of audiovisiva 5.0 will be Signal, a live concert from the German collective Signal, composed of Alva Noto, Olaf Bender and Frank Bretschneider (Sunday, May 25th, 10 pm - Magazzini di Porta Genova).
