Connecticut Gay & Lesbian Film Festival

The 19th Connecticut Gay & Lesbian Film Festival
June 2 - 10 at Cinestudio in Hartford, CT
Info: www.ctglff.org P: (860)586-1136

The crowds will be milling, tongues will be wagging and cameras flashing. It can only mean one thing: the 19th Connecticut Gay & Lesbian Film Festival is happening! For 9 fabulous days, Cinestudio in Hartford, CT will be showcasing the latest and best in LGBT film. Every year people from all over New England come to this celebration of Pride on film. Enjoy LGBT films, documentaries and shorts from all over the globe. We guarantee that you’ll be entertained, educated, challenged and moved. Some of the potential highlights include:

20 CENTIMETERS The musical journey of a lively narcoleptic transsexual who works the streets of Madrid for the money that she needs for her impending sexual reassignment.

GUYS AND BALLS Ecki is thrown off his local German soccer team for being gay. With the help of his sister and a cranky former soccer star, he tries to form an all-gay football team to challenge his old team in a grudge match. Ecki's journey in self-realization is filled with wonderful surprises and the final game will have you cheering.

FABULOUS! THE STORY OF QUEER CINEMA Book-ended by Kenneth Angers avant-garde "Fireworks" and "Brokeback Mountain," this film persuasively guides the viewer through the history and defining seminal moments of gay and lesbian cinema in the US.

LAUGHING MATTERS....MORE! We are given an all-access pass to four of the hottest hilarious lesbian comedians working today; Elvira Kurt, Sabrina Matthews, René Hicks and Vickie Shaw in this hilarious documentary sequel.

LOVING ANNABELLE The newest student at this prestigious all-girls' Catholic academy is Annabelle, the rebellious daughter of a senator who's too busy to parent. Underneath her bad-girl persona, Annabelle hungers for love, and it doesn't take long for her to crush out on everyone's favorite English teacher, Simone. A steamy new boarding-school romance destined to set hearts on fire.

QUEENS (REINAS) The hilarious contemporary ensemble comedy finds five headstrong mothers coping with the personal family conflicts surrounding the impending marriages of their gay sons. As these five very different women deal with their own desires, prejudices and history they attempt to survive the weekend as sex, anger, bigotry and love hilariously clash in this ultimate wedding film about the strength of love and the importance of family.

But there’s more than just films to enjoy. There will be wonderful parties on the opening and closing nights, visiting filmmakers and much more. Come to the Cinema Café on Friday and Saturday evenings hosted by local restaurants like Alchemy and Timothy’s. You can support the Film Festival and win great prizes at our silent auction. It’s a great time to meet up with old friends and meet new ones.
