Celebrities and Filmmakers Scheduled for Palm Beach

The Palm Beach International Film Festival announced today the celebrities and filmmakers scheduled to appear to promote their respective films including Academy Award® Nominee Dennis Hopper and Academy Award® winners Bobby Moresco (Crash) and Faye Dunaway (Network).

A record number of filmmakers will be coming to this year’s festival from around the world including Canada, Japan, Switzerland and Germany. Filmmakers and celebrities coming to promote their films will all host Q&A sessions following their films which is what sets film festival screenings apart.

In addition to Dunaway, Brooklyn Sudano (My Wife and Kids, daughter of Donna Summer), Khandi Alexander (CSI: Miami) RAIN director, Craig Di Bona and screenwriter Andrew Neiderman (Devil’s Advocate) are all scheduled to be in attendance on Thursday, April 20 for the Opening Night World Premiere of RAIN, red carpet arrivals will begin at 6:30 pm at Muvico Parisian 20 at CityPlace.

Friday night, April 21 brings another stellar evening as several celebrities will walk the red carpet including Hopper and Moresco to promote their film 10th and Wolf, written and directed by Moresco. The World Premiere is scheduled for 7 pm at Muvico Parisian 20 at CityPlace.

Also on Friday evening is the World Premiere of 7eventy 5ive. Scheduled to appear on behalf of the movie are NFL stars, whom all have financial ties to the premiere including; Tom Brady, Az Hakim, Willie McGinnest, Kyle Turley, Ray Crockett, Ephraim Salaam, Mitch Richmond, Oliver Gibson, Steve Atwater, Will Blackwell, Bob Whitfield and Blaine Bishop. Plus 7eventy 5ive executive producer Wyclef Jean, who also scored the film, Magic Johnson who produced 7eventy 5ive and Crossover and cast members Antwon Tanner (Coach Carter/One Tree Hill/CSI), Brian Hooks (EVE/3 strikes/Austin Powers/Soul Plane) and Wil Horneff (CSI Miami/Sandlot).

Additional celebrities scheduled to attend include Emmy Award Winner Doris Roberts (Everybody Loves Raymond) for the closing night film Keeping Up With The Steins, Daphne Zuniga (Melrose Place) for A-List, Stephen Bauer for Thieves and Liars, stars of the NBA, including Magic Johnson to promote their documentary Crossover and the canine screen star Benji, who will meet all of his fans at the Family Film and Fun Fest on Sunday, April 23 at 3:45 pm.

“Each year brings exciting celebrities and filmmakers to the Palm Beach International Film Festival, and this year is no exception. This is just a small handful of the guests who have been invited to attend, more announcements will be made this week, including the Gala Honorees,” said PBIFF Executive Director Randi Emerman.

Also announced are this year’s competition films. Feature films vying for Best Film include: Dirt Nap, Johnny Montana, Neo Ned, Self Medicated, The Way Back Home, RAIN and You Did What? Documentary films vying for Best Documentary include: Cowboys of Florida, Fatboy, The Movie, Life After Tomorrow, Out of Faith, The Pact, Class Act, Music is My Life, Politics My Mistress, Sacred Waters, SHOWBUSINESS: A Season to Remember and The Trails of Darryl Hunt. International Cinema competitors include: The Gold Bracelet, Ladrones y Menteroses (Thieves and Liars), Long Distance, Dark Room, Ba Boydem (In The Attic), My Last Confession and Vagabond Shoes. Shorts in competition include First Kiss, Love Letter, That Guy, The Director and Zombie Prom.

The Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 27 prior to the Closing Night Film at Sunrise Cinemas in Boca Raton. Admission is $15, which includes the movie and party at Pranzos at Mizner Park.

The 11th annual Palm Beach International Film Festival will be held April 20 - 28 at various venues throughout Palm Beach County. PBIFF is a not for profit 501(3)(c) charity dedicated to improving educational programs in Palm Beach County high schools, community colleges and universities. Proceeds raised each year go to Palm Beach County schools to provide new technologies for optimal learning in the forms of grants and scholarships.
