Carlo Bassi on MIFED 2004

In a press conference held this morning MIFED Managing Director, Carlo Bassi, stated very strongly that
1. Mifed will take place next year at the same date, same but stronger and with more support through the new alliance with Biennale, Italia Cinema. More investments to provide better services to the market.

2. The players should focus more energy on building rather than breaking:
MIFED will be working towards a global year long service to the film community, offering packaged services for companies attending both Berlin, Biennale MIFED… single database projects…”there is so much to be done…”

MIFED is linking its future to the Milan - Venice - Rome triangle.
As part of this process, in September 2003 Fiera Milano, the Venice Biennale and Cinecittà Holding signed an agreement and are finalising the building of a company to handle the management of Mifed, the Venice film market and the promotion of Italian cinema abroad
In the end the market will have the final word: neither the media who predict the death of one, nor the executives of competing markets, festivals…
The level of business achieved in MIFED 2003, in the fall 2004 markets, among other key factors, will determine the future panorama of markets.
