Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival Line up

Presented by TELUS, the Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival is proud to announce its spectacular 2007 line-up; an exceptional array of contemporary short films set to entertain festival goers from June 12th to 17th in Toronto, Canada. The 13th annual festival offers 29 different programs specially selected from a record-breaking 3,131 submissions. Presenting viewers with a wide-ranging collection of 265 shorts from more than 30 countries around the globe, the Worldwide Short Film Festival is the leading venue for the exhibition and promotion of short film in North America and one of the premier short film festivals in the world.

Offering more than 178 Premieres, over 65% of the festival's films will be screened in Toronto for the first time; including 17 World Premieres, 53 North American Premieres, 71 Canadian Premieres and 37 Toronto Premieres. From Official Selection competition screenings of Canadian and International Shorts, to special presentations, such as Celebrity Shorts, Sci-Fi: Out There, a comedy night: Laughing at Americans: New Voices of American Comedy, Scene Not Herd's cutting edge music videos, specially curated programs for youth: Shorts for Shorties and an award-winners gala, this year's spectrum wonderfully showcases the most innovative and creative films being made today.

This year's Short Films, BIG IDEAS Symposium of industry panels and seminars on the art and commerce of short film focuses on the gamut of the filmmaking process from getting the funding to seeing it sold.

"This year's extraordinary selection of films showcases the incredible vision, talent and creativity of emerging and established filmmakers at home and from around the world, said Eileen Arandiga, Festival Director. "The festival offers up a veritable smorgasbord of short film in all genres allowing audiences tremendous choice in sampling a range of superb films as well as opportunities to meet the filmmakers and participate in workshops, panels and seminars."
