With Brisbane HRAFF just around the corner we thought it would be a good opportunity to send out a program update.

GUEST SPEAKERS

HRAFF is pleased to announce that Peter Kennedy - spiritual leader of St Mary's-in-exile, will introduce the inspirational film Pray the Devil Back to Hell at the Visy Theatre, Sunday 30 May 6.30pm. Pray the Devil Back to Hell chronicles the remarkable story of thousands of Liberian women of different faith who came together to stage a silent protest to end a bloody civil war and bring peace to their shattered country.

DISCUSSION FORUMS

There will be discussion forums held at 2 of this year's sessions.

My Tehran For Sale, screening at the Visy Theatre, Saturday 29 May 1.30pm will feature a discussion forum with the director Granaz Moussavi and lead actor Amir Chegini with special guest Faramarz K-Rahber from the Griffith University Film School.

For those with an interest in the environment the Reel Change Shorts will feature a discussion forum with Gillian Marshall from World Vision, Larissa Waters - Senate candidate for the Greens and Wanita Limpus - climate change activist and secretary of the Kirabati Australia Association. The Reel Change session is on Sunday 30 May at 11am.

LIVE ENTERTAINMENT

Between film sessions on Saturday the 29 May from 5pm-7pm there will be an evening of free entertainment on the Brisbane Powerhouse Turbine Platform featuring Turkey2Timbuk2, Kooii Trio, Jumping Fences, Playabout Productions and African Drum and Dance. Enjoy a relaxed evening of free entertainment with a variety of performers from around Brisbane.
