Austin Asian Film Festival 1st edition launches

CinemaAsia Presents the 1st Austin Asian Film Festival
April 14-18

On April 14-18, CinemaAsia will host the 1st Austin Asian Film Festival. CinemaAsia is a student organization officially sponsored by the Department of Asian Studies and is being co-sponsored by the Alamo Drafthouse Downtown, Austin Film Society and Austin Chronicle. The festival aims at introducing the UT and Austin community to some of Asia's most poignant films, while promoting an understanding of Asian culture. Over 30 films will be showcased, including feature length, documentary and short subjects. For more information on the festival, visit http://www.cinemaasiaaustin.org

To promote the film festival, CinemaAsia will be distributing film programs throughout Austin and to the film attendees of the film festival. The program will include the film schedule and a synopsis for each of the films. To cover the costs of the programs, CinemaAsia will be hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, April 3, from 5-8pm. The event will be held at the new sushi restaurant, Silhouette Restaurant and Bar, at 718 Congress Ave. Tickets are $50 and will include a free weeklong film pass and a complimentary dinner. This event hopes to bring UT community and local film members together to learn more about the 1st Austin Asian Film Festival and meet the members of CinemaAsia who have worked diligently over the past few months to put this program together.

CinemaAsia's organizing members include former Cine Las Americas volunteers.
Cine Las Americas strongly supports the work of CinemaAsia and their 1st
Austin Asian Film Festival.
