Aspen announces new Exec Director Robyn Myler

Aspen Film, creators of unique and memorable experiences for both the serious cinephile and casual movie lover, is excited to announce the appointment of Robyn J. Myler as executive director. Drawing on her exceptionally strong leadership and development skills, Myler aims to take Aspen Film to the next level by increasing the range of programming and growing the membership.

"Speaking for the Aspen Film Board of Directors, we are delighted to have Robyn Myler join us as our new executive director" said Aspen Film Board President Pete Louras. "Robyn is a talented and enthusiastic leader, and we look forward to working with her as we continue to build Aspen Film for the future."

Reporting directly to the board, Myler will have overall responsibility for Aspen Film's short- and long-term strategies, day-to-day operations, artistic and fund-raising efforts, and communications and outreach. Myler joins forces with Laura Thielen, Aspen Film's artistic director.

"I am excited to be joining such a passionate team dedicated to bringing the best in cinema to the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond," said Myler. "Aspen Film will continue to present exciting and pertinent films to our audience. We will build upon the great success of Aspen Film to expand our offerings and reach a wider audience and larger membership base."

Myler has served on several nonprofit boards as both chairperson and member. Prior to joining Aspen Film, she practiced law in New York and Colorado. She received her JD from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law and her bachelor's degree from Emory University, and is a member of the bar in Colorado, Connecticut, and New York.  A long-time resident of the Roaring Fork Valley, Myler is raising her two children in Carbondale.

In coming to Aspen Film, Myler is rejoining the family business. She started her career working for her father, a theater owner who also founded a business distributing films to independent theater owners. "Working in my father's organizations gave me a unique respect for the most important people in the filmmaking process - the audience," said Myler.  "It was about giving the audience a film they wanted to see and about entertainment. I look forward to continuing that tradition at Aspen Film."
