Apple delivers "Naked Cannes" to E! via web

E! Entertainment, the channel dedicated to the world of Hollywood celebrities, revels in the underground of the Cannes Film Festival and unlocks the myth.

Titled, Naked Cannes, this five-part series features hosts Sarah Lelouch and Thierry Colby delivering daily chronicles of the festival and exclusive talent interviews with celebrities.

E! Entertainment has a prime seat at this annual event, and Apple Computer will be there to support. Apple along with Prime Cut Productions, will be using the latest technology to keep the show delivery schedule on track.

Editorial will take place in the Palais des Festivals in the Filmfestivals.com office, and will be powered by five Apple Power Macintosh G5 computers using Final Cut Studio and Tiger. Over 13 terabytes of storage will be assembled and shared via Apple Xsan storage networking software.

During the festival, four camera crews capture the daily excitement and glamour of the event.

Rough cuts of the final shows are sent to editors at E! Entertainment in Los Angeles via the Internet.
Editors can also have face-to-face communication with their Cannes counterparts via Apples iChat AV software using iSight cameras.

Each system is connected to a QLogic 5200 Fibre Channel Switch that allows sharing of the Xserve RAID arrays. Editors use AJA IO interfaces to capture video and audio to the Storage Area Network (SAN). Tascam USB122 interfaces are used for audio monitoring as well as Edirol MA-15 speakers.

The series will air from June 6th to 10th internationally in over 10 countries
