Martin Scorsese Masterclass in Cannes

Alex is unhappy with the Golden Globes awards

More than 50 Hollywood stars have been set as presenters at "The 66th Annual Golden Globe Awards" which took place Sunday, January 11, 2009 at The Beverly Hilton with a live telecast on NBC.

NOTE: The Golden Globes are awarded by the Los Angeles Foreign Press Association, which is composed chiefly of a handful of Hollywood-struck geriatric non-entities less known for their profundity in the assessment of films than for their fear of being caught on the wrong band wagon.

Steven Spielberg has received this year's Cecil B. DeMille Award from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for his "outstanding contribution to the BANKING field."

"Slumdog Millionaire" slurped up four Golden Glubbs, including best flimsy (drama).

The winners are:

Cecil B. DeMille Award
Steven Spielberg --(laughing all the way to the bank)

Best Motion Picture - Drama--(That's funny -- I thought it was a Musical Comedy...)
Slurpdog Millionaire --
ULP --GIMME A BREAK --This movie is an insult to Bollywood, not to mention a SCREAMING BORE!
Fox Searchlight Pictures and Warner Bros. ought to be ashamed of themselvers.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama
Kate Winslet – Revolutionary Road (I'll believe it when I see it)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama
Mickey Rourke – The Wrestler
(Didn't see it, so I'll givvit the benefit of the doubt --but I have my doubts)

Best Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy
Vicky Cristina Barcelona
SOMEBODY'S GOTTA BE KIDDING...This was not a comedy, it was a tragedy -- for all concerned.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy
Sally Hawkins – Happy-Go-Lucky --TOTAL BULLSHIT! (Again, --This was definitely not A COMEDY ! --
In fact, it wasn't even funny)

Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical Or Comedy
Colin Farrell – In Bruges
GOOD performance, but BRUGES was neither a musical nor a comedy --
it was an action drama with some comical moments ..and it was a light year better than Slurpdog Millionaire.

Best Performance by an Actress In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Kate Winslet – The Reader
BULLSHIT --THIS WAS NOT A SUPPORTING ROLE --THIS WAS THE WHOLE PICTURE!
The supporting role was Ralph Fiennes who should get the Slurpiest Supporting Role of the Year Award)

Best Performance by an Actor In A Supporting Role in a Motion Picture
Heath Ledger – The Dark Knight
DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES...

Most Prominent Director of a really shitty Motion Picture
Danny Boyle – Scumbag Millionaire

Best Screenplay - Motion Picture
Slumpdog Millionaire
Written by Simon Beaufoy
WHAT SCREENPLAY? (This movie had a screenplay??)

Noisiest Original Score - Motion Picture
Slamdong Millionaire
Composed by A. R. Rahman

Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Paul Giamatti – John Adams (HBO) --To know Paul Giamatti is to love him.

Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television
Laura Dern – Recount (HBO) --Any daughter of Bruce Dern is okay by me.
