A tribute to John Wayne from The Jules Verne Festival

Jules Verne Festival creators Jean-Christophe Jeauffre and Frederic Dieudonne (http://www.julesverne.org) proudly announce the official tribute to John Wayne, welcoming to the stage the Wayne family, the cast of True Grit, the film that won him his Oscar, and special celebrity guests, among them actress and costar Kim Darby, a.k.a. Mattie Ross in True Grit and harmonica player Tommy Morgan (Rio Bravo, The Cowboys, Dances with Wolves, and more).
Sons Patrick Wayne and Ethan Wayne will accept the Jules Verne 'Legendaire' Award to the late John Wayne on his behalf.

This heartfelt celebration will commemorate the movie icon with a Red Carpet event, a Jules Verne Award Presentation and a special screening of Henry Hathaway's timeless True Grit.

The John Wayne tribute event's profits will go to the Jules Verne Nature & Education program, benefitting the children of Los Angeles. The Jules Verne Awards were created 19 years ago to celebrate Legendary Movies and Stars. Previous celebrations have included The Wild Bunch, Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Some Like it Hot, and prior hosted honorees include James Cameron, George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Tony Curtis, Roy E. Disney.
John Wayne (1907-1979) was an American actor, director and producer, regarded as a Classic American Legend; he played the lead in 142 of his film appearances (1926-1976) and is best known for his roles in She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, The Quiet Man, Rio Bravo, The Searchers, The Alamo, True Grit and The Shootist. He is the only actor that appears every year on Harris Poll's list of America's Top 10 favorite actors since 1994.
