2 3D movies at San Sebastian at the Velodrome

For the second year running, the Velodrome will become an enormous 3D cinema offering two sessions during the coming San Sebastian Festival. Almost 3,000 viewers at each screening will be able to enjoy the experience of watching films in three dimensions as part of an enormous audience and before a giant screen measuring 400 m2.
The Velodrome will host the world release of the first Spanish digital 3D animated film, Holy Night!, in the shape of the directorial debut by Juan Galiñanes.
Viewers will also be able to enjoy Despicable Me, the first 3D animated production from Universal. Florentino Fernández, who puts the voices to Gru and his mother, and Ana de Armas, the voice of Marga, will introduce the film at the Velodrome. Following the screening, and if permitted by his professional schedule, David Bisbal is expected to perform “Soñar”, the song bringing the Spanish version of the film to a close.
Kelonik, XpanD and Christie, prestigious companies and indisputable leaders in the field of digital 3D screenings, will contribute their extensive experience to permitting the San Sebastian Film Festival to bring viewers this new screening system.
Kelonik is the Spanish reference in the supply and installation of cinema screening and sound equipment, obtaining an exceedingly important market share since launching its activities in 1975. As in the case of 35mm screening, Kelonik has always been a Spanish leader in the installation of 3D digital screening systems, with over 100 installations on its books to date. For many years now, Kelonik has been collaborating with the San Sebastian Film Festival, contributing its most up-to-date experience and technology to the event.
XpanD offers the San Sebastian Festival its revolutionary high-quality 3D digital cinema viewing system in the shape of its enormously successful active Polaroid glasses. XpanD is present on all continents throughout the world, and is also the European and Spanish leader in the field of digital 3D systems.
These glasses are fitted with built-in technology decompressing the signal from a transmitter for ultrafast transition from 2D to 3D in less than a second. Its success lies in the excellent features offered by the glasses, the digital 3D viewing system providing the best quality, best brightness and no shadow.
As is the case with this year’s San Sebastian Film Festival, XpanD was selected by the Cannes Film Festival as an official provider of its 3D digital movie viewing system.
The prestigious brand of digital projectors, Christie, will contribute its high-definition 2K projectors to the event. Christie has been, since 1929, a leader in groundbreaking movie screening and has been, since 1979, a pioneer in digital screening systems. Christie manufactures the most widely used digital cinema projectors designed to meet the requirements of the DCI (Digital Cinema Initiatives) for the best in movie experiences. Christie leads the way in digital cinema, with over 7,000 2K digital movie projectors installed the world over, double the figures installed by any other manufacturer. It is also the 2K digital projector brand chosen by the big world exhibition circuits.
