23rd Israel Film Festival Coverage

The 23rd Israel Film Festival (IFF) in New York celebrating Israel's 60th Anniversary
Documentary Filmmakers Panel and Q&A immediately followed the sold out New York Premiere screening of CHILDREN OF THE SUN, directed by Ran Tal, held at the Clearview Cinemas, Sunday, November 2, 4:15 PM. Israeli filmmakers attending the panel and Q&A included director Yael Katzir, PRAYING IN HER OWN VOICE, Oded Lotan, THE QUEST FOR THE MISSING PIECE, and director Ran Tal, CHILDREN OF THE SUN, moderated by Emmy Award nominee director Lynn Roth, THE LITTLE TRAITOR. 2008 IFF Israeli Documentary Filmmakers Panel discussed the success of Israeli cinema worldwide.

The 23rd Israel Film Festival (IFF) New York Premiere sold out 2nd screening of THE SECRETS, co-written/directed by Avi Nesher, immediately followed the Israeli documentary filmmakers panel session at the Clearview Cinema, Sunday, November 2, 5:15 PM. A special Q&A with director Avi Nesher followed the film. THE SECRETS premieres in selected theaters in New York Thanksgiving weekend.


The 23rd Israel Film Festival (IFF) Homage to Israeli documentary filmmakers Tomer and Barak Heymann was held at the Clearview Cinema, Friday, November 7, 2008. The all day special event with the dynamic Heymann brothers included N.Y. Premiere DANCING ALFONSO, directed by Barak Heymann; U.S. Premiere OUT OF FOCUS, directed by Tomer Heymann; N.Y. Premiere BRIDGE OVER WADI, directed by Tomer & Barak Heymann; and IT KINDA SCARES ME, directed by Tomer Heymann.
