2007 Adelaide Film Festival Program launched

The 2007 Adelaide Film Festival (AFF) program was launched this morning by Festival Director, Katrina Sedgwick at the Palace Cinemas in Adelaide, one of the main venues for this year’s festival.

Taking place from February 22 to March 4, the 2007 AFF will present a dynamic program of screenings, special events, workshops and forums, which is expected to attract over 45,000 film lovers and film makers across its 11-day program.

This festival, the third AFF will present an astounding 17 world premieres, 54 Australian premieres and films from over 44 countries.

The Premier of South Australia, The Hon. Mike Rann also announced Rolf de Heer as the recipient of the Don Dunstan Award, which is presented biennially at each AFF by the festival’s Board in recognition of outstanding contribution to the Australian film industry. The Premier also talked about the opening and closing night films – Lucky Miles and Dr Plonk, two new films that have both benefited from AFF Investment Fund.

The AFF not only showcases the best of international screen culture but also invests in new and innovative work through the AFF Investment Fund. Look Both Ways and Ten Canoes are past successes that have been funded through the AFF Investment Fund. The 2007 festival will world premiere an amazing 12 new Australian works from established and emerging filmmakers.

The AFF recently announced the establishment of the Natuzzi International Award for Best Feature Film. This morning Katrina revealed the 12 films invited into competition for the award, and the seven member jury, headed by jury president Noah Cowan.
