MAR DEL PLATA FEST ANNOUNCES FULL COMPETITION LINE UP
JURY ANNOUNCED

Mar del Plata President Miguel Pereira has revealed the full list of films set to compete at this year's event (March 11/20), as well as confirming the Jury, and those films screening out of competition.

Argentine/French cinematographer Ricardo Aronovich,
Argentine actress Ana Mario Picchio,

British producer Donald Ranvaud,
Spanish screenwriter Angeles Gonzalez-Sinde,
and Argentine/Italian film historian Ernesto Perez.


This year's edition, the 19th., will include a major look at the work of one of the first Argentine directors to achieve international status, Fernando Birri, and the screening of two great Argentine films on their 30th Anniversary: "La Tregua", directed by Sergio Renán, and "La Patagonia Rebelde", directed by Héctor Olivera; Raices (Roots), this year dedicated to a map of Italian cinema; La mujer y el cine (Women and Cinema), a selection of international films from women directors, which will be competitive for the first time next year; Collection Films: a selection of restored classic films from the region; America Latina XXI , a selection of the best work from Latin American countries; Near Darkness, devoted to genre films - thriller, suspense, terror - all of which explore dark themes; Vitrina Argentina, a showcase of all current Argentine films; Ventana Documental , a documentary section; Punto de vista (Point of View), a selection of films from around the world with definite viewpoints, as well as the ever popular La Mirada interior (An Inside View), comprising films from all the Argentine provinces; Lo que Vendrá (Coming Scenes), a section dedicated to showcasing the best short films from around the world; the LAB (Latin American Audiovisual Laboratory), a space designed to encourage synergy within the Latin American audio-visual sector, and a meeting point for every artist, producer, technician and professional.
