101 Films International confirms sales of Irish crime thriller Broken Law

101 Films International, a member of the Amcomri Media Group, confirms sales of Irish crime thriller Broken Law, which has been picked-up by Reel 2 Reel for North America, Phoenicia Pictures in the Middle East, Rialto for New Zealand and HBO for CEE.

From award-winning first-time writer/director Paddy Slattery, this gritty thriller features stand-out lead performances from award-winning actor Tristan Heanue (Cardboard Gangsters, Ciúnas (Silence)) and Graham Earley (Cardboard Gangsters, Monged), along with their co-stars John Connors (Love/Hate), Gemma-Leah Devereux (Get Up and Go, Judy) and Ryan Lincoln (Kissing Candice).

Broken Law (1 x 85’) is produced by Simon James Doyle (Failsafe Films) and Paddy Slattery (True Line Films), with the participation of Screen Ireland.  Following a sold-out IMAX premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival 2020, the film went on to become the highest grossing Irish cinema release prior to an Irish/UK Netflix deal. The film debuted at the 2020 Marché du Film and was the winner of the Discovery Award at the Dublin International Film Festival, as well as receiving a prestigious Special Jury Prize (voted for by the Dublin Film Critics’ Circle).

Broken Law tells the story of Dave Connolly, a respected member of the Garda Síochána, whose loyalty to the law gets tested by his ex-convict brother Joe, who is in desperate need of his help, following a botched robbery. Suddenly Dave finds himself embroiled in a cover-up that leads to a secret relationship with Amia, an unhappily married woman who also happens to be the victim of his brother's latest crime.

Eoghan Burke, VP of International Sales, 101 Films International comments: “We’re extremely pleased to have secured these global deals for this exceptional Irish film.  Broken Law is an award-winning, must-see dynamic crime thriller packed full of energy and great performances.”
