IDFA’s markets open for submissions

IDFA’s markets are now open for all project and film submissions. As of today, project teams can submit their entries for IDFA Forum—including the Producers Connection, Forum Pitches, and Rough Cut Presentations—as well as for IDFA DocLab Forum and Docs for Sale.

About IDFA's markets

Each November, IDFA hosts a dynamic marketplace that caters to filmmakers, producers, and industry professionals throughout the full life cycle of documentary film. For three decades, our array of market services has had a proven track record in the international documentary industry, whether you are looking to form new partnerships, initiate dialogues, find financial support, meet distribution partners, or gain knowledge about the current documentary climate.

To best align with your project’s stage and goals, we invite you to read more about the different sections of the markets: the Producers Connection, Forum Pitch, Rough Cut Presentations, IDFA DocLab Forum, and Docs for Sale.

New location and dates

This year’s edition will be a comprehensive live event that welcomes guests to a new venue: Felix Meritis. Located in the heart of Amsterdam’s historic Jordaan district, steps from the festival center, the new location will house both IDFA Forum and Docs for Sale, and their various sections and services, under the same roof for the first time.

A dynamic marketplace focused on bringing the industry together, the location will welcome project teams, industry representatives, financiers, and observers to physically attend the Forum on site, while down the hall, film teams, buyers, festival programmers, sales agents, and distributors will gather in-house at Docs for Sale. Meeting rooms and lounge spaces will be available for all guests of the markets throughout the building to network and mingle.

Take note: in 2022, IDFA will take place one week earlier in the calendar year, which means IDFA Forum will run from November 12 to 16, and Docs for Sale from November 11 to 16.

Submission deadlines and information

The submission deadline for IDFA Forum and IDFA DocLab Forum is August 1. The submission deadline for Docs for Sale is September 8.

Before submitting an entry form through MyIDFA, be sure to read about the eligibility, regulations, submission process, and other practical information via the pages for the ForumDocLab Forum, and Docs for Sale.
