 BVR_Panel1.jpg

Documentary formats have become more and more popular, whereas production conditions in Germany are getting worse. During DOK.fest, a special event featuring this controversy is going to focus on the future of German feature documentary films and trying to find solutions for the dilemma.

CINEMA AT ITS BEST?
Conference on the future of German feature documentary films on May 3rd, 2018

Panel during DOK.forum 2017

The situation of the German documentary industry has become paradox: On the one hand, documentary formats have never been as popular as it is at the moment, on the other hand, due to limited financial means production conditions are getting worse. The conference CINEMA AT ITS BEST? brings together industry representatives to work out new perspectives for documentary cinema.

Following the event, two prizes are awarded to documentary producers: The FairFilm Award Non Fiction by Crew United, honours documentary productions with particulary fair working conditions; the VFF Documentary Film Production Award goes to producers, who contributed to their film projects in an outstanding way.
