A sneak-preview on the second edition of FIPADOCSix months before FIPADOC raises the curtain on its second edition, a sneak-preview! From 21 – 26 January 2020, come and discover outstanding documentary works in every format from around the globe, in Biarritz in the heart of Basque country! FIPADOC is 6 days of screening exceptional works from around the world – as well as meet-and-greets and Q-and-As with the people who made them – for professionals and public alike, in exceptional settings amid a festive environment. Honouring an inspiring filmmaker and a country at FIPADOC 2020 In collaboration with the Cinémathèque du documentaire, FIPADOC has invited Carmen Castillo, a French writer and director of Chilean descent, to present a retrospective of her work. Alongside the programme of events for professionals, FIPADOC will feature a FOCUS ON…Sweden, with screenings of a selection of a dozen recently-produced Swedish documentary films. A top-tier programme of vibrant, though-provoking films Five Grand Prix Categories Applications are open for the 2020 selection! Five Grand Prix competition categories: International, French, Musical, Impact, and Digital Experiences with 5,000€ in prize money for each category. Other awards include Short Films, the Mitrani Award for best first or second film, best CAMPUS film for educational purposes, and best pitches presented during INDUSTRY DAYS. Two new selection categories European Stories: this category comprises documentary films which capture the experiences of our neighbours throughout Europe, and reflects the festival’s European foundations. This selection is non-competitive. Family films: this category comprises family-friendly documentary films suitable for viewers under 10. FIPADOC 3.0 Everyone is welcome to come and discover cutting-edge technology at SMART, a space dedicated to digital experiences. In addition, professionals can visit the SMART LAB designed in collaboration with the National Audiovisual Institute (INA).
