The Marché Buzz: Day 8

Tarantino’s Return

As the second week of the Cannes Film Festival has started it has also come to a head with “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” finally having premiered this evening. With a film of this stature comes much attention, and quickly. Reactions from critics and fans have already begun flooding in on social media platforms- and it seems no one was disappointed. Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, the actors who play the leads in the film, have been praised for their performances already, and director Tarantino hasn’t been left out either. Some have related the film to his earlier works like “Pulp Fiction,” and others have said he could be a contender for the Palm d’Or at the festival. Though that prediction seems well, predictable, its for legitimate reasons, rather than the assumption that he will win just on account of who he is in the world of film. Only a small percent of people have seen the film, but from the reviews thus far, and though up against other impeccable and well received films, it could be the winner of the sought after prize at this year’s festival. The festival is winding down now and most of the films in competition have premiered, but the world will still have to wait to hear the final word.
