Redemption Day wraps shooting in Morocco
REDEMPTION DAY directed by HICHAM HAJJI !
The action thriller Redemption Day directed by Hicham Hajji has wrapped its shoot in Morocco.
Featuring an all-star American cast, the movie is an ambitious geopolitical thriller following an US Marine Captain Brad Paxton’s (Gary Dourdan) rescue mission to save his wife Kate Paxton (Serinda Swan) kidnapped by terrorist group leader Jaafar El Hadi (Samy Naceri).
Captain Brad Paxton with the help of American Ambassador in Morocco (Andy Garcia) and a Moroccan counter-terrorism top agent (Brice Bexter El Glaoui) will have to go against the politicking maneuvers of his own government and a mysterious powerful man Mr K (Robert
Knepper) who will undermine his mission to save his wife.
A Moroccan Production: the country is already well-known for being the scene of many large budget films coming for its deserts, old cities and coastal towns (Game of Thrones, Bourne Identity, Gladiator or Inception to name a few), Redemption Day stands out as being fully
financed and produced domestically. According to Hicham Hajji: “Redemption Day will pave the way for Moroccan talents and producers to trust their own skills and create a viable ecosystem to reach the international circuit.”
An Academy-Award winning sales company: Voltage Pictures (The Hurt Locker) is handling the international sales of the film which will start during the 72nd Cannes Film Festival. With the current cast it is estimated that the film will be sold in 120 territories worldwide and a teaser will be released officially during the film market.
Veteran actor Andy Garcia has joined the already star-studded list of actors who have committed to the script, written by Hicham Hajji and based on the true story of a friend photographer who was killed by a terrorist group during an NGO mission in Africa.
He will be surrounded by Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters), Martin Donovan (Ant Man), the Moroccan rapper Taoufik Hazeb (Don Bigg), Soumaya Akaaboune, Mehdi Ouazzani among many others.
