Un Certain Regard 2009 presented 20 films from 24 directors hailing from 20 different countries. 2 of the works were first films.

The program opened on Thursday 14th, with KASI AZ GORBEHAYE IRANI KHABAR NADAREH (No One Knows About Persian Cats) by Bahman Ghobadi.

Presided over by Paolo Sorrentino (Director and Sceenwriter - Italy), the Jury was comprised of:
Julie GAYET (Actress - France), Uma DA CUNHA (Journalist - India), Marit KAPLA (Festival director Göteborg -Sweden), Piers HANDLING (Festival director Toronto - Canada).
