Short Film Corner: French LessonOne of the shortest films in the short film corner, at only four minutes long, “French Lesson” relies entirely on an almost music video-esque quality to propel its narrative. The story of the film, which was directed by Nic Osborne, is based upon the familiar idea of boredom in the classroom. Utilizing the well-known metaphors of black and white versus color à la Wizard of Oz to show the audience the change in mood, the film follows Lolita during the Alizée song of the same name as she wanders through Paris and then Cannes in a dream-like state. Even with the almost cliché imagery of the cities, the film gets its point across, and for four minutes, is an entertaining look into the dream of a French student. 22.05.2007 | Cannes's blog Cat. : Alizée cannes Cannes Cannes CDATA Fiction Film french lesson Literature Lolita Metaphor nic osborne Paris Short Film Corner XML FESTIVALS
