Cannes label: 21 producers on the move

EFP will be presenting Europe's most promising producers in Cannes

The members of European Film Promotion (EFP) have made their choice: 21 producers from all over Europe will be coming together this year for the PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE programme at the Cannes International Film Festival (16.–27.5.2007). The participants are at the beginning of their international careers and have attracted attention through their ambitious, outstanding productions. The initiative to promote young producers has been financially supported by the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, the EFP member organisations and sponsors.

Over the past eight years EFP has created a label with PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE that is followed with great interest by the international film industry and press. Each year, EFP offers a comprehensive platform to a group of the most promising European producers in Cannes and provides them and their productions with international attention via a promotional campaign during the festival. In Cannes, the world's biggest film festival, EFP organises a round table meeting and a coproduction lunch with producers from all over Europe to give the selected producers the access to a professional forum in order for them to discuss current projects and lay the foundation for future collaborations.

„This year, our members have selected producers with varied backgrounds, ranging from feature film through animation to children's film productions. I am expecting some interesting discussions.“ says EFP managing director Renate Rose. „Many of the participants were already able to present films in Cannes or at other international film festivals and received prizes. It is also pleasing to see the number of those who already have experience in working on international co-productions."

Various participants from last year have profited from the project: Helen Ahlsson, Swedish PRODUCER ON THE MOVE 2006 says: “PRODUCERS ON THE MOVE really helped me and my co-producer Jarkko Hentula (Finnish participant in 2004) to wrap up the last parts of the financing in Cannes 2006. It was a perfect door-opener for having meetings with sales agents and distributors.” Ieva Norviliene, PRODUCER ON THE MOVE 2006 from Lithuania, adds: “We are planning a co-production with Iván Angelusz, the Hungarian PRODUCER ON THE MOVE 2006, and his colleague Peter Reich – both from Katapult Film. We are preparing the project Anarchy for Summer together.”

The following producers have been selected by the EFP member organisations
