Big Mike Craft and Dinner avec Steve Allen

It was the fall of 1975 and I was a little sick of running around for Mr. Lansky.

He had forgiven me for having him set down by the Commission for trying to get me to kill Ex-President Nixon but if I was not protecteted by my friend in Chicago, I might have had to make other arrangements for Meyer. Meyer and my father had been friends, but I always remembered what happened to Meyer Lansky's best friend Benny Segal!

So I always looked for a change, but there was never one change against me. ---------------

This time I was in Rochester N.Y., the arm pit of upstate N.Y. I was to have dinner with Steve allen, the famous TV star and friend of Meyer's. Apparently Steve wanted Meyer's advice and I was to be the conduit! We had dinner at the Hearth & Ember in Pittsford, N.Y. Mr. Allen was playing at the local Show Theater (I forgot the name) and was staying at the Elizabeth Hotel. It's funny, after 35 years, I remember the restaurant and the Hotel but not the Theater. Well so much for crap, One of the local boy's got mad and burned it down the next year anyway. I had a great time, Mr allen ordered 7 Dinners and had he and I pick which one we wanted. I had never had that done before.

I guess Steve Allen was a human Buffet, before they were popular. He was funny, and very intelligent. He said that Meyer must have respected me very much to send me, and me being so young! I told him that My father and Meyer way back and that I had been working for about 7 years. I told him that meyer was getting more tired lately, but that I was to do what ever he (Steve Allen) wanted. Mr allen and I had a great meal. The restaurant was owned by Jonny FU-FU Furferro. He was a real gentleman and had a wonderful daughter. The Furferro Family and their friends were real nice to me.

The Restaurant was wonderful and I never saw Mr. Steve Allen again. He made his request and I had the request taken care of. Mr. Allen and Mr. Lansky have both passed but I shall keep their personal message private. Mr. Steve Allen was funny and professional to me.

That was dinner in Rochester, N.Y. with Steve Allen!
