He was a member of the Jury at the 14th International Festival of Asian Cinemas in Vesoul in 2008 where he was paid homage in a retrospective (Achaglon, L’Alliance, Nissour, Waiting Calendar, ...). Along with Bakhtiar Khudojnazarov, Jamshed Usmanov and Iskandar Usmonov, he was one of the filmmakers behind the rebirth of post-Soviet Tajik cinema and the ensuing civil war. We had the pleasure of seeing him again during the Golden Tulip Festival in Dushanbe in November 2019 where we were members of the jury. At this cruel time we offer our sincere condolences to his wife, family and the entire film world of Tajikistan.
