Piece of Magic Entertainment and mk2 Films today announce their Charlie Chaplin film collection partnership, as THE KID (1921) celebrates its centenary year. The international theatrical distribution company and one of France’s biggest independent film companies will collaborate to release Chaplin’s iconic films in cinemas worldwide.

Among mk2 Films’ 2k and 4k restorations of Chaplin’s work are The Great Dictator (1940), Modern Times (1936), City Lights (1931), The Circus (1928), The Gold Rush (1925), and THE KID which is one of cinema’s first feature length films to turn 100 and one of Chaplin’s most popular and highest-grossing films.

To commemorate the centennial, mk2 Films will release THE KID in France in Autumn 2021 with a 4K restoration and Piece of Magic will work with their global network of exhibitors to release this and other seminal films from the collection in over 49 territories, while collaborating with existing mk2 distribution partners.

A series of new posters and trailers designed for contemporary audiences have been commissioned to commemorate the anniversary.

The company’s slate includes the upcoming European theatrical release of Alex Winter’s Zappa as well as award-winning box-office sensation Apollo 11, Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love, Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool, and David Attenborough: A Life On Our Planet, all released across multiple territories.
