The french got talent: 8 french professionals in the "French Talents group"

Berlinale Talents is very proud to announce the selection of 205 film professionals - 113 women, 84 men and 8 who preferred to not state their gender and/or - from 65 countries for the 19th edition of Berlinale Talents, which takes place under the theme DREAMS. In our most recent press release you'll find more info about this year's edition and our Talents as well as links to their Talent profiles/projects:

We are very happy to let you know that 8 of the chosen filmmakers are working and living in France plus two further Talents who are staying there shortly. Here are a few of them:

  • the director Antoine Chapon, who is interested in a political critique of new technologies and new media and whose first film "My Own Landscapes" (2020) won the Silver Sesterce Award for Best Short Film at the Visions du Réel festival
  • the dual French and Canadian citizen Julien Chheng, an animation artist and director – he currently co-directs the sequel to the award-winning feature “Ernest and Celestine”
  • the film composer Anahit Simonian from Armenia, studied at conservatories in Paris and Moscow, mostly composes music for creative and hybrid documentaries

The “French Talents group” is complemented by the production designer and art director Melanie Garros who is currently residing in Canada and Joséphine Schroeder, a producer based in Chile.

Together the 205 Talents will participate in a 5-day virtual programme featuring tailor-made events with internationally renowned experts holding workshops and talks, some of which are open to the public via berlinale-talents.de. Berlinale Talents takes place March 1 to 5, 2021. The complete Berlinale Talents programme will be online from mid-February.
