The International Jury
Once again a multitalented International Jury will decide who will take home the Golden and
the Silver Bears at the Berlinale 2024. The members of the International Jury are: Brady Corbet (USA), Ann Hui (Hong Kong, China), Christian Petzold (Germany), Albert Serra (Spain), Jasmine Trinca (Italy) and Oksana Zabuzhko (Ukraine). Lupita Nyong’o (Kenya / Mexico) will serve as president of the International Jury.

The Encounters Jury
This year’s Encounters programme features 15 films. A three-member jury chooses the winners for Best Film, Best Director and the Special Jury Award: Lisandro Alonso (Argentina), Denis Côté (Canada) and Tizza Covi (Italy).

Berlinale Shorts 2024 – International Short Film Jury
The director and screenwriter Ilker Çatak (Germany), the sound artist and researcher Xabier Erkizia (Spain) and the director, screenwriter, video artist and lecturer Jennifer Reeder (USA) are the International Short Film Jury for the 2024 Berlinale Shorts. From the 20 nominated films, they will be choosing the winner of the Golden Bear for Best Short Film, the winner of the Silver Bear Jury Prize (Short Film) and the Berlin Short Film Candidate for the European Film Awards.

GWFF Best Feature Award

|
Jury GWFF Best First Feature Award
Since 2006, the GWFF Best First Feature Award has been given to one outstanding debut film across the Berlinale sections. In total, 16 directorial feature film debuts from the sections Competition, Encounters, Panorama, Forum and Generation are nominated for the GWFF Best First Feature Award. A three-person jury will decide on the award: Eliza Hittman (USA), Andréa Picard (Canada) and Katrin Pors (Denmark).

International Jury and the Children’s and Youth Jury at Generation
The selection has now been made of members comprising the International Jury as well as the Children’s and Youth Jury, who award Glass Bears and cash prizes at Generation: Amjad Abu Alala (Sudan), Banafshe Hourmazdi (Germany / Iran) and Ira Sachs (USA) have been recruited for the International Jury.

Generation Competition Programmes Complete
Two further world premieres complete the Generation programme: Wo tu (Above the Dust) by Wang Xiaoshuai in the Generation Kplus competition and Kai Shi De Qiang (She Sat There Like All Ordinary Ones) by Qu Youjia in the Generation 14plus competition.
The programme of Generation 2024 is now complete.

With this year’s theme of "Common Tongues – Speaking Out in the Language of Cinema", Berlinale Talents sets an example for diversity in filmmaking, tolerance and unity among all those who love cinema and who together with everyone stand for open exchange and freedom in art. The programme consisting of 14 major public talks and countless other events for the 202 invited Talents spans the usual wide range of cinematic disciplines and cultures and invites – in keeping with this year's focus on language and understanding – to enter into conversation with internationally renowned guests and among each other. Among them Martin Scorsese, Lupita Nyong’o, Joanna Hogg, Ira Sachs, Peaches, Abderrahmane Sissako, Tsai Ming-liang and Mati Diop.
