The Bear is back on the 2024 Berlinale Key Design
Key Visual der / of the Berlinale 2024 © Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin / Claudia Schramke, Berlin
Starting in late January, at Potsdamer Platz and across the city, the Berlinale poster will build anticipation for the 74th Berlin International Film Festival, taking place from February 15 to 25, 2024.
“The attentive, open and approachable bear stands as a symbol for the intended focus of the 74th Berlinale: the festival as an open place for our audience and the film industry, which have both remained equally loyal to us over all the years and have made the Berlinale what it is – a place for encounters and exchange. I am delighted that we have been able to capture that spirit so well with this year’s motif," comments Mariëtte Rissenbeek, Executive Director of the Berlinale.
The key visual was once again designed by Berlin-based graphic artist Claudia Schramke.
The posters will be available for purchase in the Berlinale Online Shop starting December 20.

Berlinale Special 2024: First Film Titles
Seven productions, including one series, have so far been invited to the 2024 Berlinale Special. The complete programme with around 20 titles will be finalised in mid-January.
“It is with special pleasure and pride that we welcome back directors who have presented their work at the festival in the past. Berlinale Special will be home for new films by Julia von Heinz (Treasure) and Tilman Singer (Cuckoo), both with projects involving American stars, for the irreverent comedy by the Zellner brothers (Sasquatch Sunset) and the dark universe of the first series by the D'Innocenzo brothers (Dostoevsky), and for the latest from masters Atom Egoyan (Seven Veils) and Tsai Ming-liang (Abiding Nowhere). We are happy to celebrate these films along with the great performances of Amanda Seyfried, Lena Dunham and Stephen Fry, Riley Keough and Jesse Eisenberg, Hunter Schafer and Dan Stevens. And we are especially looking forward to welcoming back Carey Mulligan to Berlin, and, for the first time, Adam Sandler, representing Johan Renck’s Spaceman,” says Artistic Director Carlo Chatrian.
Here are the announced films in the programme and the film list as a PDF.

Forum Expanded Announces the First Seven Films Selected for the 2024 Programme
Seven films from the upcoming Forum Expanded programme have been confirmed. The works selected shed light on both the palpable and more ephemeral effects of power, grief and dispossession. They explore caves, enter digital ecosystems and illuminate the hideouts of elusive artefacts. In doing so, they gesture towards the normalisation of sociopolitical dysfunctionalities as well as possible attempts at resistance.
Please find enclosed the press release and the film list.
