Berlinale Goes Kiez
The Programme
From February 22 to 28, Berlinale Goes Kiez presents selected films from the various programme sections of the Berlinale in locations beyond the festival centre at Potsdamer Platz. Thereby, it cordially invites cinema-loving visitors to meet filmmakers in the realm of their “own” programme cinema and to engage in a direct exchange with them. The series is once again supplemented by a special screening at the Plötzensee Correctional Facility, which is open to external audiences also this year. The complete programme of Berlinale Goes Kiez can be found here.
Berlinale Classics & Retrospektive
Events
The screening schedule will be complemented by eight special events. As part of the Berlinale Classics section, there will be a presentation of the restoration work on Das Wachsfigurenkabinett (Waxworks, Germany 1924), and a discussion of how the Holocaust was portrayed in post-war Eastern European films, using the examples of Daleká cesta (Distant Journey, Czechoslovakia 1949) and Ostatni etap (The Last Stage, Poland 1948). In addition, the Deutsche Kinemathek will inaugurate its Jerry Lewis Archive with the ceremonial transfer of documents from his estate.
