Berlinale Spotlight: Generation in Japan 2020
With its specially curated programmes, the Berlinale has been present around the world for many years. Moreover, the Berlinale Spotlight extends the festival period and makes the activities of the Berlinale visible throughout the year.
Under the banner of Berlinale Spotlight: Generation and for the third time already, the Berlinale section Generation presents a programme of films from the last festival edition, jointly curated with the Nara International Film Festival.
The Nara International Film Festival will take place physically in Nara, Japan from September 18 to 22, 2020 in accordance with the locally applicable hygiene and safety measures to contain Covid-19. The Berlinale Spotlight: Generation is presented as part of the NIFF Youth Jury Programme, which represents the festival’s aim to enthuse young audiences for artistically ambitious cinema.
„Audiences of this year’s Spotlight-Programme can look forward to laugh and to cry, to feel entertained and empowered, be reminded or even helped to forget. In these uncertain times it is more important than ever to make extraordinary films accessible to audiences of all ages. In solidarity, we are proud to collaborate once again with the Nara International Film Festival”, says Maryanne Redpath, head of Generation.
