Christos Nikou, director of the Greek Oscar entry APPLES

Christos Nikou’s debut APPLES has exceeded all expectations and is now running for an Oscar nomination (in the international feature film, screenplay and more categories). Christos has worked as assistant director to Yorgos Lanthimos, and has made award-winning short films. He is represented by the top Hollywood agency CAA and is preparing to embark on his first English feature FINGERNAILS, starring Carey Mulligan and produced by Cate Blanchett’s production company Dirty Films.

Our industrious and multi-talented friend and advisor, Phedon Papamichael - a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) - is up for an Oscar nomination in the cinematography category for Aaron Sorkin’s THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7. Phedon is one of the most highly sought-after cinematographers in Hollywood and has worked with famous directors, including Alexander Payne (SIDEWAYS, NEBRASKA, DOWNSIZING) and James Mangold (FORD V FERRARI, WALK THE LINE, 3:10 TO YUMA). He also directs his own films, his latest - LIGHT FALLS - already in post-production. From the sidelines, Phedon has been extremely supportive of Greek and Georgian filmmakers, and an active advisor to the LAGFF team.

Anna Rezan, director of MY PEOPLE: THE JEWS OF GREECE

Widely known as an actress a musician and a high fashion model, the multi talented beauty just completed her feature documentary debut: MY PEOPLE: THE JEWS OF GREECE, Anna Rezan explores her Jewish roots and uncovers the untold stories of the Axis occupation in Greece in a hymn to love and courage. The film that is produced by her, Zaf Haitidis and Adacemy Award winners Mitchel Block & Kim Magnusson is up for an Oscar nomination.

Konstantinos Antonopoulos, director of POSTCARDS FROM THE END OF THE WORLD

A Columbia University graduate, Konstantinos Antonopoulos is an award-winning filmmaker who has made several short films and documentaries. His POSTCARDS FROM THE END OF THE WORLD is currently competing for an Oscar nomination.

Nicolas Kolovos, director of INDEX

Nicolas Kolovos is a director/writer that lives and works in Sweden. He has directed various films that have participated in international festivals and received awards. In 2016 he received the Iris award by the Hellenic Film Academy for his short film FIG. His latest, INDEX, is currently competing for an Oscar nomination.

Jacqueline Lentzou, director of The End of Suffering (a proposal)

 

Jacqueline Lentzou has directed four shorts which screened and won in numerous festivals, the most prestigious one being the Cine Leica Discovery Award in Cannes’ Semaine De La Critique (2018) for HECTOR MALOT: THE LAST DAY OF THE YEAR. Currently, she is finalizing her feature debut MOON: 66 QUESTIONS. Her short THE END OF SUFFERING is up for an Oscar nomination.

Constantinos Venetopoulos, director of DRAW WITH ME

In addition to publishing two novels, Constantinos Venetopoulos’ films have premiered at Tribeca Film Festival among others. His most recent work, DRAW WITH ME, created in partnership with 'The Trevor Project' about Brendon Scholl, a youth in transition, featuring Jennifer Lopez and President Joe Biden - is currently competing for an Oscar nomination.
