Review: In Jackson Heights

By Maria Esteves – November 8, 2015

Jackson Heights, Queens, the multicultural capital of the world is truly the heart of New York City depicted by director Frederick Wiseman in his latest documentary IN JACKSON HEIGHTS. Set in present day and filmed Vérité, this compelling over 3 hour documentary explores the authentic multicultural and religious communities where people from all over the world come to visit and live because of its unique neighborhoods, businesses and beautifications. It captures New York City life from school zoning to slow zone to engineering security with City Council Member Daniel Dromm to policing to business improvement development (BID) to the elderly community to the Julio Rivera murder to the 17th century Leverich Family Burial Ground and the 2013 Gay Parade.
