Documentary Chasing Ice Opens in New York

The New York Premiere of CHASING ICE, directed by Jeff Orlowski commenced Friday, November 9, at the Cinema Village. A special Q&A discussion with filmmaker Orlowski and National Geographic photographer James Balog, director, Extreme Ice Survey (EIS) immediately followed. Questions posed by the audience to director Orlowski and Balog included What was the budget for the making of the film, How did you pick the Glaciers, Do you have plans to show the film to members of congress, Where do you think we can go after what had happened here in New York, and in Greenland, where is the EIS project now and how does it look for the future?

CHASING ICE is a passionate and immensely powerful documentary about a visionary photographer James Balog never ending quest to make a global impact on global warming. Balog’s five year project as director of the Extreme Ice Survey (EIS) capture Artic glaciers from Greenland and Iceland as high as the Empire State Building and as wide as Manhattan disappear in a short period of time. Visualize the beautiful architectural vanishing glaciers go through it’s metamorphosis from ice to water. The geological change is captivating and compelling.
