"GARY LUCAS PLAYS COFFIN JOE" A HIT AT SXSW FILM AND SXSW MUSIC FESTIVAL!!

I had a great double header at SXSW over the weekend playing my original live solo guitar score to Jose Mojica Marins's 1967 Brazilian cult horror classic "Esta Noite Encarnerei no teu Cadaver" (This Night I Will Possess Your Corpse) at both the SXSW Film and the SXSW Music Festivals down in Austin Texas! Austin was a zoo as usual with over 2000 different acts performing. I had played there previously both solo acoustic http://garylucas.com/www/soloac   with my b...

Gary Lucas Plays "The Golem" (1920) -- Gary Lucas accompanies the film live with his original solo guitar score

Director: Paul Wegener and Carl Boese.
I have performed with this classic horror/fantasy film--the best version of the Golem legend ever made--in our 20 countries round the world since debuting my live score (in collaboration with composer Walter Horn) at the Museum of th Moving Image in Astoria NY in 1989. The film concerns the actual historical Rabbi Jehudah Loew, who Jewish legend has it fashioned a man out of clay and brought him to life through cabbalistic magic to protect the Jewish Community of 16th century Prague from annihilation. A stunningly beautiful, little seen film!
