A key music world calendar event, Indie Week is embracing sight and sound with a companion program – the Reel Indie Film Festival.

The second edition of the festival takes place October 14th – 19th, 2014 in Toronto, a filmmaker’s mecca and media launchpad for some of the industry’s brightest young talent. This year the festival grows to include 2 more features, shorts and music videos.

RiFF seeks to cover the gamut of musical inspiration, from the teenage dream of following in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones, to using music as a platform for one’s thoughts and beliefs. Films that make us think, that move us, and that capture the essence of a band or song.

We are pleased to inform you that the 23rd International ContraVision Film Festival has launched its 2015 call for entries.

The deadline for submission is Monday, December 1st 2014.

There is no submission fee, just our own online entry form and upload.

The films should not be longer than 30 minutes and there are no restrictions regarding genre, style or topic.

The 23rd ContraVision will run from March 20th until 28th 2015 at Cinema Central in Berlin, Germany. It presents action, comedy, horror, animation, romance... and more... from all over the world. The audience will vote the winners of the ContraVision Awards.

In May Porto opens its doors to the monochromatic aesthetics. The Black & White - International Audiovisual Festival, which receives video, audio and photographs in black and white, will take into competition works from all over the world.
With unique worldwide characteristics this initiative grew from the need to answer to the audience's growing sensitivity to black & white specificity, leaving behind the prejudice that relates this aesthetics with works of early cinema.
But the festival shows more than videos and photos in two colours, it also encourages the creation of sound environments referring to the black and white.
Over four days, several activities related to the audiovisual world will be carried out in addition to the competitions: artist talks, screenings and extensions from other international festivals. The nights will also be exciting with a broad cultural program.

International Film Festival of Prayag, is going to start its journey with the support of cine lovers across the world. The festival has been started by the persons having long associations with the industry under the ages of Z&Z MEDIA PVT LTD, a media production house based in Delhi, which is continuously working in this field from past 15 years. Short films have emerged as a universal experimental platform for both professional and amateur film makers alike. Allahabad ,also known as Prayag ,is a city in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh and the administrative headquarters of the Allahabad District. As of 2013, Allahabad is the seventh most-populous city in the state and the thirty-sixth most-populous city in India, with an estimated population of 5.11 million in the city and 1.21 million in its metropolitan region. In 2011, it was ranked the world's 130th fastest-growing city. The city's original name – Prayaga, or "Place of Offerings" – comes from its position at the union of the Ganges, Yamuna and Sarasvati Rivers called “SANGAM”, It is the second-oldest city in India, and plays a central role in Hindu scriptures. Allahabad has hosted cultural and sporting events, including Kumbh Mela and the Indira Marathon. Although the city's economy was built on tourism, most of its income now derives from real estate and financial services. Film Stars like Amitabh Bachan, , Anubhav Sinha, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shubha Mudgal, Jaddanbai ,Nargis etc also belong to Allahabad we hope it would be a great place to organize a film festival. The city has best connectivity of Airport and Railway so there would be no problem of transportation from any part of the world.

The APICA, an association for the promotion of images, creation, and the arts, based in French Polynesia organizes from March 7th to 15th, 2015 the second edition of the International Festival of Short Fiction Films from the Islands of the World: Courts des îles, in Papeete, Tahiti (French Polynesia).

The APICA wishes to highlight island sensitivities from all over the world through their audiovisual and cinematic creations, by gathering them around a unique event: The International Festival of Short Fiction Films from the Islands of the World, Courts des îles.

From Java to Madagascar, from Iceland to New Zealand, from the Bahamas to Guadeloupe, from Hawaii to Tasmania… Courts des îles hopes to be an open window on island cultures, singular of pluralistic, a link between these young creators, directors from the islands of the world who tell us their stories.

A space for creation, experimentation, a genuine springboard for young creators, but also a formidable means to develop personal projects, short fiction films are pregnant with promise for film production worldwide, and generate great interest today from the public as well as broadcasters.

The Courts des îles Festival explores the richness, the diversity, and the uniqueness of island authors and directors’ imagination through this specific form of expression, in a different way than documentaries, which are more anchored in the real world.

A veritable journey around the world of island creativity: from Europe to Asia, from America to Oceania, and through Africa, Courts des îles is also a place of exchange and sharing for festival attendees, who will be able to contrast their experiences, their points of mutual interest, and their differences during workshops, round tables, and conferences organized around the themes of screenwriting, directing, and producing short fiction films.

Beyond the screening of short fiction films from the islands of the world, the Courts des îles Festival will give pride of place to a different island every year through the best short films that are produced there. For this second edition, New Zealand will be the guest of honor of the International Festival of Short Fiction Films from the Islands of the World.

Entering the “Courts des îles” Festival

Only a film whose director was born on an island may be in competition at the Courts des îles Festival. Registrations for the competition can be made on the www.filmfestplatform.com, www.clickforfestivals.com, www.festhome.com, www.uptofest.com or www.courtsdesiles.com website, and by post, until december 31th, 2014, at midnight. Registered films will be shown to a pre-selection committee, who will determine which films are selected. Titles of films entered into the competition will be revealed on February 16th, 2014.

For movies wishing to compete for the ” First movies ” Courts des îles prize, the director of the work must have realized no more than two movies submitted to an international festival of short films of fiction. The works produced within the framework of a school or of a formation can compete to the ” First movies ” Courts des îles prize.

Films in competition will be submitted to a vote by the public, for the length of the Festival, from Mrch 7th to 15th, 2015, and by a jury made up of professionals from the audiovisual sector and the international film industry. Five prizes, representing a total amount of 18,675 Euros (international flights for stranger competitors included), will be awarded:

• the “Courts des îles” Grand Prix,
• the “Courts des îles” Best Screenplay Prize,
• the “Courts des îles” Coup de coeur Prize.
• the “Courts des îles” First film Prize.
• the Courts des îles” Audience Award.

The Awards Ceremony, during which the winners are announced, will be held on Marh 14th, 2015.

As ambitious as it is unforgettably bold, shnit International Shortfilmfestival unfolds simultaneously in multiple cities on five continents, bringing together more than 30,000 filmmakers and film lovers in ways rarely experienced elsewhere on the festival circuit. Over its 12 days, shnit celebrates more than 200 short films of all genres and styles and gives away US$100,000 in cash prizes.
