A key music world calendar event, Indie Week is embracing sight and sound with a companion program – the Reel Indie Film Festival.
The second edition of the festival takes place October 14th – 19th, 2014 in Toronto, a filmmaker’s mecca and media launchpad for some of the industry’s brightest young talent. This year the festival grows to include 2 more features, shorts and music videos.
RiFF seeks to cover the gamut of musical inspiration, from the teenage dream of following in the footsteps of the Rolling Stones, to using music as a platform for one’s thoughts and beliefs. Films that make us think, that move us, and that capture the essence of a band or song.
We are pleased to inform you that the 23rd International ContraVision Film Festival has launched its 2015 call for entries.
The deadline for submission is Monday, December 1st 2014.
There is no submission fee, just our own online entry form and upload.
The films should not be longer than 30 minutes and there are no restrictions regarding genre, style or topic.

The 23rd ContraVision will run from March 20th until 28th 2015 at Cinema Central in Berlin, Germany. It presents action, comedy, horror, animation, romance... and more... from all over the world. The audience will vote the winners of the ContraVision Awards.
Whether you've been making films for years or have just gotten started, we invite you to submit your animal-themed films of 10 minutes or less that have been created in the last two years and fall into one of these four categories:
Educational (Documentary)
Funny (Comedy)
Dramatic (Drama)
Youth Produced (exacty that:17 years old and younger)
Three films in each category will be chosen as winners by a panel of animal- and film-loving judges.

PetDance is a one-day short film festival in Salt Lake City, Utah, dedicated to all things animal.
Submission deadlines:
Early bird ($25/submission): Nov. 30
Regular ($35/submission): Dec. 31.

Coinciding with the Sundance Film Festival in neighboring Park City, the first annual PetDance will take place January 24, 2015. Prizes will be awarded to the top three films in each category: Educational, Dramatic, Funny, and Youth-Produced.
Proceeds for the festival go to the world-renown Best Friends Animal Society to help companion animals find forever homes.

"Games People Play" has just been selected to MultiFest in Jalisco, Mexico for October 1-4, 2014. The dark comedy shot in the style of a Sergio Leone spaghetti western was written/directed by Dawn Westlake and shot/edited by Jon Carr. Canon USA, Inc. provided their C500. The score was composed by Gregory Johnson of Acoustic Labs. "Games People Play" features LA-based comedic actors David Razowsky & Mark Jacobson, along with Westlake.

From 17 to 18 October 2014, the Candiani Cultural Center is playing host to the Mestre Film Fest, the international short film festival now in its seventeen year and as always, with exciting new initiatives. Working with the Candiani is the Circuito Cinema and Office of Youth Policies and Peace of the City of Venice, UNICEF, Cinit Cineforum Italiano, Friends of the Arts in Mestre and Lions Club Mestre Castelvecchio. The new feature this year is from the world of production, the support of IMG Cinemas, and the new multiplex in Piazzale Candiani by the Furlan family, the storied operators of urban movie houses.
The films must fall into one of the following categories:
Short Stories Section
Short films running no longer than 15' (including the titles and the acknowledgements) are eligible, regardless of the topic (documentary, fiction, videoclip, etc.) shot on any format.
Video-For-Kids Section
Videos for kids made by under-18 filmmakers or by any grade level school are eligible. The film can be shot on any format, but it must not run more than 10' (including the titles and the acknowledgements).
The criteria for evaluating the videos will consider the film’s effectiveness in achieving educational and visual goals and conciseness.
The UNICEF - Veneto Regional Committee - will award a prize or honourable mention to works that best meet the inspirational principles of the International Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Special juries will make a preliminary selection of the submitted works. The juries have the final discretion to disqualify from the competition works considered violent, racist, pornographic or otherwise objectionable.
